OUR STORY

Smart Life AV was founded in 2014 due to a growing demand for smarter homes. Managing Director Mike, has quickly established himself as an influential personality within the Audio Visual Industry.

After graduating with a degree in Computer Science and achieving his goals in the Video Games Industry, he felt that AV would be an exciting career path to utilise his expertise and passion for technology.

Mike was presented with two awards in 2021. CEDIA Certification Volunteer of The Year and InAVate 40 Under 40 most influencial young AV professionals. He was also shortlisted for the CEDIA Young Professional of The Year Award in 2019.

In 2022, Smart Life AV welcomed Alfie to the team. Alfie fills the role of Junior Technician and is being personally trained by Mike to deliver the same high standards of work. Alfie is currently working towards his CEDIA CIT Certification.

CEDIA ADVANCED MEMBER

CEDIA are the professional trade body for the residential AV Industry and have approximately 4000 member companies worldwide. Smart Life AV were one of the first 10 companies in the world to achieve CEDIA Advanced Member status in 2019. We have maintained this designation consecutively year after year and remain in the top 2% of companies who have earned this. 2023 marks our 5th consecutive year of achieving this accolade.

To become a CEDIA Advanced Member, a company must demonstrate a proven commitment to continuing education, customer service, and community outreach.

We achieved Advanced Member status by proving our competence in knowledge via multiple examinations, recognition from our clients for exceptional customer service and our volunteering efforts in training Architects and Interior Designers to further develop relationships and growth of our industry.

CEDIA CERTIFIED

CEDIA have challenging exams that professionals can sit to earn CEDIA Certified status. Mike holds both Technician (ESC-T) and Networking Specialist (ESC-N) exam certifications which help our clients trust in our technical abilities to deliver projects competently. To date, Mike is one of approximately 1300 individuals who have earned these certifications.

CEDIA ACCREDITED PRESENTER

Mike regularly volunteers his time to deliver training to Architects and Interior Designers. He is a CEDIA Outreach Instructor and CEDIA Accredited Presenter which enable him to deliver sessions to large groups of professionals. Notable sessions include training 50 architects at the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) London Roadshow and delivering a session for the Director of the BIID (British Institute of Interior Design).

CEDIA COMMISSIONER

Mike volunteers alongside other highly valued individuals on the CEDIA Commission. The role of the Commission is to serve as the governing body for all matters related to the Certification program for the AV industry. His opinions help shape the future of the industry on a global scale and involve working to align objectives set by the International Standards Organization (ISO), CEDIA Board of Directors and other key stakeholders. To date the Commission has developed the new CIT and IST Certifications, with a new Networking certification in development. The CIT and IST are the first CEDIA Certifications to have been accredited with the globally recognised ANSI ISO17024 standard.
